who would have thunk?!

....that a simple visit to a mall would be a chance to meet the president!
yep that's right, the little president that could....
We went to the Go Negosyo! exhibit at Market Market today just to see what was there. We were on our way out of the exhibit area, when we noticed that a growing crowd was near the entrance. So siyempre naki-osyoso din kami diba?! hahaha! We found out from one of the bystanders that the president was coming in a little while. Now how many times in your life can you say that you met a president of a whole country?! So we stayed and waited. We stood near the escalator not really expecting anything to really happen to us,just hoping for a quick glance. when suddenly we see that people are now becoming frentic and there's this whole entourage coming up the escalator. People start jostling each other as the prominent group arrives on the floor. Now my mom, who is right beside me suddenly sticks out her hand and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo shakes it! And then starts to pull my mom towards her for a shot on camera!OMG! But my mom, who is usually so bibo by the way, suddenly becomes shy and pulls away! hehehe! darn! i was too slow with my camera! oh well!

.....who would have thunk?!

no pain no gain

if that's true, then the gain should be directly proportional to the pain.right? in that case, i have a whole lot to gain! my feet have been screaming bloody murder for a couple of hours now because of my romp through makati's business area.what was i thinking wearing those boots?! by 12:30pm i could already feel every stone, line, and crack in the pavement. by 2pm i was already taking small limping steps. again, what was i thinking?! i tried to get a cab home but every cab i flagged down refused because it was too far away daw and the price that they were asking for didn't go below 300 bucks! WTF! and as if that was not enough, when i rode the MRT on the way home i was standing in front of a row of men sitting down. there i was swaying in front of them (err, that sounds....nevermind) as i tried to hold on to that loop thingy that hangs from the bar. i was trying to stare them down, so that one of them might be kind enough to offer their seat. not one looked at me. where are all the gentlemen? are they extinct?! the only reason i was able to sit down was because one of them got off at a stop. so with a sarcastic "thank you" i sat.when i got to cubao, i limped over to the department store and took the first pair of slippers that i saw. tore off my boots and headed over to the cashier. by this time i no longer cared how i looked or what people thought.
so what prompted this little trip? well i've been peppering my cv here and there....coz i'm bored and broke....which isn't all that fun.

"a nothing special ordinary kind of girl"

....for some strange reason i have that line rolling around in my head. i am so loving sophie kinsella right now!

oh to be a kid again!
last night we were at market market to meet with one of dad's office mate to get his pasalubong, we were standing near the fountain at the front of the entrance.it was on full blast and doing a little fountain dance. i just adore fountains like the one at market market. its not your run of the mill fountain where there's a pool of water with water spouting out. this one is designed so that the water shoots up from the ground and you could walk in between the water. there were a lot of kids running in between the little columns of water, and running to the center just before the big column of water blew out. it was so.....mesmerizing....if that's the right word. the kids were squealing out of delight as they touched the water, ran through the fountain, and as the water shot upwards. at my age i couldn't exactly go over and join them,so there i was standing to the side, and all i could do was take pictures.

i got my mp3 player today....many thanks pops!hehehe!it's not an ipod or anything fancy shmancy like that, but i still love it ;o)

it's so small and light and fits right in the palm of my hand

....and since we're on to material things.....

why is it that the wants of people never cease to end? people could have everything they could every need in their life, but still long for something.is it just human nature? obviously it's a way of showing how successful you are financialy....you have all your basic needs covered and have more than enough money to indulge in luxury items.oops!wait....i think i kinda anwered my own question.....hehehe

.....moving on....

due to some fluke with our cable company, we now have that channel that gives the live feed from the PBB house. according to my fanatic of a family that channel is something you have to pay extra for, so they were so excited when aien discovered the channel, and haven't stopped watching since.if you know me, you'll understand that this show irritates me to no end.i don't see the point of it.and i don't think i ever will. so no use in trying to convince me otherwise. ugh! this is like meteor garden all over again!

mismatched?

for the very first time in my life, last night, i went speed dating.this was all courtesy of michiko, who's parish group was doing a fundraiser.

a little description on how it was done:

there were 13 pairs, all seated at different tables, of course there were 2 to a table. you are all given 5 minutes to chat up your partner and try to learn has much as you can.when a bell rings, it means it's time to wrap up and move one to the next person. the women were stationary while the guys moved from table to table.everybody were given a guide questions and a track card, where you can write down the names of the people you meet and any other comments you might have.the whole thing took about two hours.once you've met everyone, you can make little marks indicating who piqued your curiosity, and then you rank them. as for the matching part, i have no idea how they'll do it, because the organizers said that they would just email the results to us.

hmmm....5 minutes?! what can you learn in 5 minutes?!suprisingly, just the right amount of info from the person. it's too short a time to run out of things to say but long enough to keep you interested. funny thing, i found myself repeating things i've said before. but i couldn't help it, everytime the damn bell rang you had to start all over again!hehe! but the whole thing was fun and a very different way of meeting new people.
