Chefs on tour

Monday was definitely not the ideal weather to go on a field trip. But the Mr. School President insisted on pushing it through, and so we went. There was a bit of trouble with the transpo a few days prior to the trip, but in the end we solved it but instead learned that we didn't even have to go through all that trouble because we could have stuck to the original plan. Argh! Oh well. Cge tuloy parin ang plan b. Despite the rain(outside and in) we enjoyed the drive to Tagaytay with the help of Chester's never ending wise cracks. On the way to the Las Pinas campus, we somehow lost track of the convoy despite being in the middle of it. Pano kaya nangyari yun? Dami talaga bloopers itong trip! After several calls to the lead car, it was finally decided that we just meet up with the rest in Tagaytay. Hala! When we get there naman, na una pa pala kami?! So hintay pa kami sa may 7/11. Maybe after 30 minutes they come driving by and we join the line again only to drive to Gourmet Cafe, which we already passed, grabe, sayang ang gas. hehehe! So we tour the herb farm at the back of the restaurant, or just kind of walked around on the muddy footpaths. After our little walk, we headed into the the Cafe for some lunch. Some very slow lunch. I mean, they knew we were coming, pero bakit konti parin yung staff nila? Hayyy....buti nalang masarap yung food nila. Yup, even the cream of lettuce was suprisingly good. I couldn't even taste the lettuce. So after lunch, we then headed over to the slaughter house where we watch a cow get....well...slaughtered. So I stood there watching the cow die, and get skinned. I then walked away because I couldn't take it anymore. So I guess I won't be eating beef for a while. I'll probably have the cow's "why me?" expression in my head everytime I face a plate of meat. Hay naku. So we then get back in our rainy vehicle and head over to Moomba. And surprise! We get sidetracked and are the last to arrive. By this time I'm thinking the vehicle's cursed, and won't be using its services anytime soon. So we finally get there and are treated to a tour of the kitchen. And yes! Hapi-hapi time na with the class. Todo class bonding ito.

i love rainy days

I woke up to rain pounding on our roof today. Ah! The perfect day to stay curled up under my comforter with a cup of hot chocolate from tim horton's. Bliss! It was a nice way to almost forget about messages from last night. But, when i checked my phone, meron parin message! Ano ba yan? Get over it all ready! Hayyyy......

anyway

We now have a new pet. He kind of forced his way into our lives. My mom woke up to find a cat sitting on the kitchen counter. How did he get in? We're still trying to figure that out. Somehow he found a way to get up on top of the kitchen cupboards, where he spent a couple of hours meowing every now and then. What did we do? Isha set a little container of tuna in front of him in the hopes of getting him out. What happened? He ate most of it and then retreated back to his corner. Oops! Okay that didn't work. Next, a little container of milk was set down on the floor, we had to give him something drink! He could have choked on all that tuna he ate. Hehehe! So he jumps down on to the floor, and I'm there waiting for him. So I approach him very slowly with a broom in my hands(not to hit him, just to sort of guide him out the front door), he then hisses at me several times while my mom comes in from another direction and the cat panicks and tries to climb the window screen back up the cupboards, but it falls to the floor and runs out the kitchen! Ahhhh! It is now currently holed up under the bathroom sink and hasn't come out since, despite the milk we put right b the sink. Anybody know a cat whisperer?

Dish of the day: mashed potatoes

The girls of the class
I've been taking culinary classes for a month now. What have we suceeded in cooking? Mashed Potatoes! Ahahaha! It's been lecture after lecture, or in most cases, the chefs reading the handouts out loud to us, while our minds float somewhere far far far away. Golly! Hirap pala maging chef. Today, during lab(kitchen) work we only stand up for 2-3 hours. My legs are screaming bloody murder! Pano pa kaya when your working full time na. You're going to be standing for 8-12 hours na! Yikes! Tapos, you're not going to be a chef right off the bat. Of course commis ka muna, in other words potato peeler ka muna for the first 3 years. Ahahaha! What have I gotten myself into?!
